Unfortunately for the Michigan Wolverines, me, and all other Michigan fans out there, yesterday marked the end of a great season. Even though our game against Texas Tech didn't go our way, looking back at the entire season, I would say the Wolverines were pretty successful with a 30-win season. Even though I am not going to talk about the game yesterday, I have to give a shoutout to my favorite player on Michigan, CJ Baird, for making the only 3-pointer of the game. Now I am going to talk about some of the highlights for the Wolverines this season and what to expect next season.
At the beginning of the season I thought that there were two games in particular that impressed me. One of these games was our ten point deficit comeback win against North Carolina. I think that this game was an important win because it was the first real quality team they had played so far.
Another win earlier in the season that I thought was important was the first conference game of the season against Purdue. As we can tell now with Purdue advancing to the Elite 8 with a close overtime win over Tennessee, that they are a really talented team especially with Carson Edwards. I think that Michigan actually played better in the earlier part of the season because they were able to get a couple of quality wins without losing to anyone. Unfortunately during the middle of conference play, Michigan had a pattern actually all the way to their loss against Texas Tech where they would win two games and then lose one.
The only person who is probably going to try and get drafted from the Wolverines is Charles Matthews. Currently in the NBA, all Michigan basketball players are pretty much just your average role player off the bench, but I hope that Matthews can do more than that. Besides Charles Matthews, there are no other seniors, so the lineup will most likely get good new additions and only lose Matthews (but there is a small chance that he could come back to Michigan and play one more season because he redshirted his freshman year.) Although Matthews is going to almost definitely be gone, I still have faith in Michigan that they will have yet another great season next year and hopefully bring home the championship back to Ann Arbor.
