This is the final week for of our seniors to do their SIS (Senior Independent Study). They have spent five weeks doing an independent activity of their choice. Their whole experience stays rather mysterious until their presentations next week, so I wanted to check in with some of our seniors to see what they've been up to.Last week I started checking in with some seniors about their Senior Independent Studies.

This week I decided to check in with Serena Sheth, who is volunteering at the SPCA which is an animal shelter.

What does your day look like on an everyday basis?

A normal day would be heading to the shelter and comforting the dogs by reading to them. I also work alongside the staff to train them and play with them

What's the best part?

The best part is just being around dogs all day. I'm a huge animal person so I really enjoy it!

What is something that is challenging?

Something that is challenging is that I am not certified to be alone with the dogs yet so a staff member always has to be with me when the dogs are out of their area. Therefore, I'm pretty limited to the things I'm allowed to do. I have to take a class in order to be with the dogs alone which I will be taking soon.

Any other fun bits of information or things you've learned thus far?

There is a black lab puppy that I've gotten really close with so I'm really trying to convince my parents to adopt him! Everyone should adopt, it's a great thing to do!
