Posted 05/29/2020 01:08PM

COVID19 has caused many sports to stop playing or cancel the season altogether. However the Bundesliga, a professional soccer league in Germany resumed their soccer season on May 16. They decide to finish their season without fans. Germany is the 7th country with the most confirmed cases of coronavirus, they have 179,364 confirmed cases. Regardless, they have played about 27 games so far. Many of the fans are very happy that Bundesliga is back. Many players are happy as well: "Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki saw the positives, adding he felt they had rediscovered the joy of childhood football as they returned to action with a 4-0 derby victory over local rivals Schalke"(Krishnan).

However the Dortmund coach Lucien Favre isn't too happy about playing without fans,"There is no noise. You shoot at the goal, you make a great pass, you score, and nothing happens. It's very, very weird." If you want to see what it's like without fans, upcoming games that you can watch: May 30 at 9:30am there are four games, and another game at 12:30pm, and on May 31 at 12:00pm.

Last Sunday, Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Phil Mikelson played in Champions for Charity. Woods and Manning beat Brady and Mikelson and were able to raise $20 million that is going for coronavirus relief efforts. "I've never played a tour event like we were going to play tomorrow with no fans," said Phil Mickelson before play began, making the 623rd start of his tour career. "It will be a very weird experience, and I feel bad for the people here that have supported this tournament for so many decades to not be able to come on out. But this is a pretty serious thing" (Morfit and Ross).

NASCAR is also racing without fans. One of the racers Matt DiBenedetto talked about his experience, saying it's "just dead silent when you get in the car. We're usually hearing the flyover and the fans are going crazy." He also mentioned how this experience makes him appreciate the fans even more. "This gives a whole other level of appreciation (for supporters) that we possibly couldn't have even felt otherwise." NASCAR races returned on May 16 and will continue till November. Kyle Busch explains how it's weird to race without fans, "The fans — whether they're cheering, whether they're booing, it's always fun to see the reactions and give them a bow, I hope to see the fans back as soon as possible. Felt a little odd. I guess I could have bowed to the camera. Everyone is on the other side of that camera." Races that are coming up: May 31 at 3:30, June 7 at 3:00 and June 10 at 7:00.
