Predictions for 2021-2022 school year

By: Presley Damiano

This year has been filled with lots of ups and downs, so many things have evolved over the year. For example, when we first came back to school it was very strict. We were not allowed to stand over someone when someone was sitting, we weren't allowed to share materials, and the six feet apart rule was very enforced. Personally, the hardest part was not being able to have the sports interaction in the fall as soccer is my main sport. Talking to my peers and teachers, we are able to see such a significant difference in the past month due to vaccines and cases going down. Luckily, our Wooster community has a large number of people vaccinated. I find it fascinating how fast things have changed even in the past week. When we heard that 16 and up can get vaccinated, we knew things would start to progress in a good way. And less than a month later 12-15 were able to start getting vaccinated. So far the month of May has been filled with good outcomes and progression we have been waiting for all year. I wanted to write an article with my predictions on how covid requirements will be in the Wooster community. Starting in the fall I will be able to look back at this article and see if my predictions were on the right track.

*All of these are my personal predictions in which none of these are definite.

  1. I think masks will only be required in an outside or indoor setting with no air circulation or a large group of people
  2. I believe that we will not have to wear masks for sports even when we are playing other teams
  3. I do think we will still have to wear masks on buses
  4. I think we will go back to a pretty normal sports season. I want to be confident in saying that we will have an HVAL season.
  5. I do not think we will still be in the gyms for classes
  6. I think we will be able to go back to sitting at a table with our classmates instead of sitting on different ends of a table
  7. I think we will have a different lunch setting. I believe that we will be back in the dining room however, there will be a more organized and clean environment for us to enjoy how our lunch used to be
  8. I believe that we will still have fans and windows/doors open in all of our classrooms when possible to be able to keep air circulation
  9. Depending on how much of our school population is vaccinated will depend on the masks rule and who will be required to wear them
  10. I think we will still have constant cleaning of desks
  11. I believe that middle school students will get to use lockers
  12. The Chapel program will be back
  13. I do not think water fountains will be available
  14. I think that we will continue to start at 9:00 because of the benefits that had on the students and faculty members
  15. I think online school will still be an option for students who prefer it
