NFL Week 4

by: Gus Aspillaga

Week 4 - NFL recap

Each week I will be doing a recap of the most important things that happened over the past week. This will be done for each week of the NFL season. There will be a recap of 3-5 different games or significant things or trends that happened over the past week.

Tua Injury

The Dolphins should fire their team's doctors. Against the Bills in Week 3, Tua was hit with a late hit and he was pushed down and his head hit the ground with force. After he got up he almost fell back down and his teammates had to catch him to save him from falling. He went to the locker room and was out for a bit. It looked to everyone that it was a concussion, but the team doctors deemed it a spinal issue. He went back into the game and was able to come back against the Bills. He then was ruled fine to play on Thursday Night Football against the Bengals. After a bit of the game, he was hit hard on a fair play and hit his head again. It was really bad and he needed to leave the game on a stretcher and go to the local hospital. Now Tua will most likely be out for the rest of the season as people who have multiple concussions in the span of four days could die. It would be a miracle if he let alone plays football again.

Monday Night Football

On MNF the Rams and 49ers faced off in a NFC west matchup. The 49ers ended up taking a 24-9 win. There were good games from Deebo Samuel and Cooper Kupp. Samuel had six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown. Cooper Kupp had 14 catches for 122 yards. Cooper Kupp led receivers in catches last week. This was a surprise win for the 49ers. In my opinion I felt that the Rams should have won as they were the former super bowl champions.

Thursday Night Football

On TNF the Bengals faced the Dolphins. First off, the Dolphins overplayed Tua which ended in him having a second concussion in the same week. The Bengals won the game 27-15. The game was really close until midway through the 4th quarter. From when halftime started until six minutes left, the score was in between a field goal. The Dolphins' run defense looked really strong as they had multiple goal line stands. The Bengals all around looked good.

Offensive player of the week (QB)

Jared Goff

Goff was unreal last week he threw for four touchdowns and had 378 yards throwing. He was second in yards to Brady and Brady had 13 more targets and completions than Goff. Out of 158 Goff had a 121 passer rating and of all QB's he was 4th. It was lowered by him throwing an interception.

Runner up:

Tom Brady

Tom Brady also had a great week. He was a mile behind 2nd in receptions and he led just barely in yards. With QBs that had higher than 10 attempted throws he was 6th with a 114. The Buccaneers were heavily relying on Brady to make throws and they didn't use that much of the run game.

Offensive player of the week (Non-QB)

T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson was Jared Goff's main target. He caught 179 of Goffs 378 yards. He also did that only catching 8 balls. He had 2 touchdowns and had a long 81 yards.

Runner up:

Rashawn Penny

Penny was able to rush for 151 yards on only 17 carries. He had at least 10 less carries than the next 3 players who had 27, 28, and 31. He took in 2 touchdowns.

Defensive player of the week

Haasane Redick

Redick was unbelievable last week. He was able to force 2 fumbles and he was able to have 2 sacks on the QB. He also had 4 solo tackles.

Runner up:

Jordan Poyer

Jordan Poyer was able to make plays. He was able to get 2 interceptions and had a total of 6 tackles with 4 of them being solo and the other 2 being assists.
