Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 New Changes

By: Owen Michalowski

Over the past few weeks, we got the first major update of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4. The main new changes made are vaulting boogie bombs and unvaulting the ranger shotgun, vaulting the DMR, adding the Cobra DMR, unvaulting the grapple glove, adding holochests and some map changes. Boogie bombs have been in and out of the game since Chapter 1 Season 2. They are used by throwing them at opponents to make them dance, giving you open shots. They were too overpowered and did not have a counter so I agree with Epic's decision to vault them. A lot of people, including me, got many cheap kills by using boogie bombs.

The ranger shotgun was first introduced in Chapter 3 Season 2 around halfway through the season. The ranger shotgun has high damage but a low headshot bonus and it only holds 1 bullet. In my opinion, it is okay but the prime shotgun is better because with the fully loaded bonus it does more damage and it holds 4 bullets. Also, for Fortnite's 5th birthday they unvaulted pizza, cake, the firework flare gun, and balloons for a few days. The Evo Chrome shotgun and Evo Chrome burst rifle were buffed to require less damage to upgrade. They also have increased the spawn rate and they can spawn at higher than green rarity. The DMR was vaulted and replaced by the cobra DMR. The main difference between these weapons is the DMR is for long range and is like an assault rifle, sniper hybrid. The Cobra DMR is more like the MK seven assault rifle, has a higher fire rate and is more for close to medium range.

Holochests were another part of this update. You can use keys to unlock them and they show what's in the chest as a hologram.

Another part of this update is the grapple glove being unvaulted. You can use it to swing on trees or buildings to move around the map. It will only be in the game for a fortnite (2 weeks) which has me thinking they will add a Gwen Stacy themed web slinger to replace it.

The map also got a few changes. There was a spooky mansion added in the mineshaft part of shifty shafts. Also, the floating buildings and the blimps moved to different locations.

I think epic is doing a great job making sure Fortnite always has something new and interesting and this was a great update. I can't wait to see what comes in future updates and to cop dubs with the new weapons.
