Peter and the Starcatcher marks Wooster's return to live theatre since our production of The Secret Garden in March 2020, after a nineteen month hiatus from in-person performances due to COVID. Peter and the Starcatcher is an energetic story that serves as a precursor to the famous Peter Pan.
Taking place in 1885, it follows a nameless orphan, Boy (Will Thaler), who is sent on an overseas trip alongside two of his fellow orphans, Prentiss (Jonah Bates) and Ted (Leo Straiton), aboard The Neverland, a slow merchant ship. The ship is sent to deliver a trunk full of starstuff, magical dust that grants power to anyone who touches it, to Queen Victoria of England.
Traveling with The Neverland, a speedy military ship called The Wasp is filled with undercover pirates in pursuit of the starstuff, one of them being the great Black Stache (Alli Byrne) and his right-hand man, Smee (Ben Greco). The young Molly Aster (Alex Ancona) and her father, Lord Leonard Aster (Charlie Aspillaga), are tasked with protecting the starstuff from anyone who tries to get their hands on it.
When the trip takes a chaotic turn, we see how Peter Pan became the legendary hero that we know him to be, and how his rivalry sparked with the one and only Captain Hook, through an epic tale filled with mischief, Mollusks, and mermaids.
