Tiny Miracles Toy Collection A Big Success

TINY MIRACLES

Hi! My name is Marley Dixon. Recently, I sponsored a holiday drive collecting toys for premature babies and their families. The donations went to the Tiny Miracles Foundation, an organization that supports families who have babies in the NICU section of the hospital. The toys were distributed to five hospitals in Fairfield county.

The donations included anything that would be suitable for premature babies. Items donated included no scratch mittens, baby boots, and toys.

This idea came to me when my mother and I were discussing what I should do to fill in my community time obligation. There were a lot of different opportunities and I didn't really like them. They all seemed as if they were already done, like donating soup to a soup kitchen. I wanted to do something different.

My mother came to me the next day and told me about the Tiny Miracles Foundation. She said that I could sponsor the drive to donate toys to premature babies and their families. I thought that this idea was perfect. I met up with Mr. Evans and some other students that were a part of the Social Impact group at Wooster. They gave me some additional ideas about posters and spreading the word.

I placed two baskets in the middle school so that people had a place to put their donations. I also had a friend helped me put up posters. It was all going very well at this point.

The drive ended on December 19th. By then, both of the baskets were full of donations. The students at Wooster Middle School donated over 50 toys and baby items

I would just like to thank everyone who donated to my drive. You truly don't know the impact you have made on these families. Again, thank you so much.
