Class Notes - November 2016

Class of 1956

In late August three members of the Class of '56 met in Berlin for a mini-reunion. Hosted by Helmut Schaeffer '56, Wooster's foreign exchange student in their senior year, Larry Rothman '56 and Peter Feller '56 also attended. Larry and Peter were brought to Europe for different reasons but had the opportunity to get together. They relived some of their glory days 60 years ago and otherwise marveled how each of them turned out in their careers and private lives. A delightful time was had by all!

Class of 1983

Ted Silverman '83 reports that he recently took a new position as an IT Manager for the City of San Francisco’s Information Services Division. He's been in the San Francisco area for almost 30 years. He has contact with fellow Wooster Alums - Rick Lewis '83, Mitch Wilson '83 and Kerry Ahearn.

Class of 1995

Daniel Kline '95 started working at Globality. Their product is launching in late 2016 / early 2017. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Daniel is building out the global commercial operations, including North America. Globality’s mission is to help solve the global socio-economic demands of sustainable and inclusive global growth, making globalization work for all. They are using artificial intelligence and human curation to drive the benefits of globalization deeper into the economy.

Class of 2001

Following eight years practicing architecture in NYC, Katherine LoBalbo Bennett '01 now lives and works primarily in Connecticut and Westchester County in architectural project management and design. She has contributed to the design and management of the New Residential Colleges at Yale University, GSK corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, and is considered a leader in the integration of (BIM) modeling technology. Katherine is currently developing and managing design for over 2,000 residential apartments across Westchester County. She is an active member of the Architectural Review Commission for the Town of Greenwich. Katherine has completed the NYC Aquaphor Olympic Triathlon, two 200 mile relay races from Miami to Key West, and twelve half-marathons.

Class of 2003

Aijah Keith '03 currently serves as the Acquisitions Manager at IFC Films. During her tenure, she has aided in securing over 180 titles for the company’s three film labels: IFC Films, Sundance Selects and IFC Midnight. Aijah's career began in the film and entertainment industry with internships in the Acquisitions department at IFC Films and the Production department at Focus Features. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in Cinema Studies, Keith was accepted into NBC Universal’s Page Program. While there, she held assignments at Oxygen Media, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live. She currently resides in New York City.

Class of 2007

Jane Timm '07 has been extremely busy this election season. Jane is a reporter, specializing in Republican politics and elections. During the 2016 election, she covered Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, and Governor Bobby Jindal's campaigns, breaking news and building relationships with each candidate and their teams. Jane can be found within the NBC family of networks. Her home base is New York City.

Faculty

David Douglas (Wooster 1981-1990) just retired after 35 years of teaching, the first nine of which were at Wooster. After teaching at New Fairfield High School, David and his family moved to the eastern end of Long Island, where where he taught for 20 years. David reflects, "I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Lawrence Davis, who gave me my start in choral directing and to mentors like Joe Grover, Korb Eynon and Donald Schwartz. But most of all, I am grateful to the students of those nine years, who shaped my career so importantly by teaching me about what it means to be a musician in a school community."
