Wooster Chapel on WiNK

Centering Moment

Let's start out as we always do by gifting ourselves a time of quiet mindful meditation. This video will guide you through five peaceful minutes of mindfulness.

Song of the Week:

The song of the week is "The Champion" by Carrie Underwood. It might be hard to find motivation during this time away from our friends, teammates and teachers. This song along with the video is a perfect pick me up if I need some inspiration. It is a really good reminder that you are strong even in this very difficult situation. "The Champion" is a perfect testament to how Wooster will come back stronger and better than ever!

Chapel Presentation by Rev. Tickner

This week we were able to celebrate DQ Day!! This is a yearly tradition that forces us to go outside for fun, games, and an enjoyment of nature. While it was a little different this year, I hope you were still able to enjoy the day. It's amazing how healing and rejuvenating being outside can be.

For me, however, being in nature is more than that. One of my favorite quotes of the Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel says:

"Our goal should be to live life in radical amazement. ....get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. To be spiritual is to be amazed."

Being in nature allows me to stand in radical amazement of the world in which we live. This was amplified for me a couple of years ago when I learned about the incredibly complicated nature of trees. Underneath their beautiful canopies lies an intricate communication system with networks of trees that allows them to pass on knowledge, warn of impending danger, and care for younger more vulnerable trees.

Below is a short video that explains how this works. As you watch this video I invite you to live in radical amazement of the world in which we live.

Welcome to Our New Senior Chapel Prefect, Jillian Schnaudigel

As you may have seen last week Melanie wrote that it was her last week at James Marshall Chapel Prefect. I think we can all agree she has done an incredible job over the past year! So thank you Melanie, you'll be a tough act to follow. Now that Mel unfortunately has to leave it is my turn to take over the Chapel Prefect position. So I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I'm super passionate about social justice and the importance of understanding ourselves and others. We have some very exciting things planned out for next year that I think you will all enjoy. I look forward to seeing (or writing) you all soon!
