Updates from the Medical Science Club
Posted 03/05/2021 02:44PM

Hi everyone! For the month of February, The Medical Science Club focused on heart health. February was National Heart Month and on February 5th, the Wooster community came together and wore red in honor of National Wear Red Day, a day devoted to raising awareness for heart disease. Thank you to those that participated! Also, the club designed a bulletin board located in Grover. Go check that out!

Every Monday, the club discussed a diverse range of topics related to the heart, from cardiovascular conditions to how to take care of your heart. The club learned a ton and couldn't wait to share their new knowledge with everyone! Please enjoy the articles that the club wrote including heart anatomy, how sleep and stress affect the heart, how physical activity impacts your heart, how nutrition affects the heart, how water influences the heart, and how one's heart transitions from a newborn's heart to an adult's heart! We hope you enjoy learning about the heart just as much as we did!

For the month of March, the Medical Science Club will be talking about mental health disorders. We kicked off this month with eating disorders since last week was National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. As a way to raise awareness for eating disorders and to foster a healthy, positive, and accepting relationship with our bodies within the Wooster community, the Medical Science Club and the EJC launched The Body Positive Affirmations Project. On this padlet, please write at least one thing that you love about your body or yourself and/ or one thing that you are. The padlet will then result in a beautiful art project that will be displayed at Wooster.

If you would like to join The Medical Science Club, please contact me at izzy.garcia-fischer@woosternet.org or Mrs. Wilkinson at ellyn.wilkinson@woosterschool.org so that we can send you the Google Meets link! We meet every Monday at 11:00 am.

We hope you love learning about the heart just as much as we did! Enjoy the articles in the Health Corner!
