Charlie Stuhr '20 has been selected to compete in the "A" Singles Championship Draw. Brady Knuff '20 and Andrew Felton '19 have been selected to compete in the Doubles Championship Draw. All matches will take place on Saturday, May 26 at the Torrence Hunt Tennis Center at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT.

Earlier this month, the entire Lower School took part in a Jump Rope for Heart event designed to celebrate the students' record-setting fundraising efforts. Nearly 70% of the students participated in raising more than $12,000 for the American Heart Association.

The Wooster School Ultimate Frisbee team is having its finest year in school history, currently with a record of 19-2! The team is currently ranked 3rd in the nation and 1st in the state of Connecticut. The team has, for only the second time in school history, qualified to play in the First Division of the New England Prep School Ultimate League (NEPSUL) Tournament.

Wooster will take on Watkinson School in a semifinal match. Storm King School and Millbrook School will compete in the other semifinal match. Both semifinals, as well as the tournament finals, will be held on Saturday, May 19 at Millbrook School starting at 9:30 am.

It is post season time for the spring sports. Many teams start their Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) Tournaments today, with semifinals and championship games later this week. Good luck Generals!

The American Classical League, a professional organization for classicists, sponsors annually the National Latin Exam, a standardized Latin test for high school students. This year, over 150,000 students worldwide took the National Latin Exam. Seven Wooster School students received honors on the National Latin Exam.

Wooster School graduate and current Kenyon College student Kern Byrnes was recently named the 2018 Newcomer of the Year for lacrosse in the North Coast Athletic Conference, only the second player to be honored with this award in the history of Kenyon College Lacrosse. He was also the only freshman named to the league All-Conference team, earning second team honors as a defenseman. Kern was a starter for the Kenyon College lacrosse team throughout the season and was also named as the team's MVP on defense.

Wooster School ninth grade student, Jillian Schnaudigel of Brewster, NY, received the 2018 Putnam County Youth Volunteer Award on April 13 at the 33rd Annual Putnam County Youth Awards Dinner held at the Putnam County Golf Course. As one of over 100 finalists, Jillian, along with 15 other amazing high school students, was honored for her exemplary community service and compassion.

Wooster School's first ever Middle School debate team, coached by Latin Teacher David Moran, went to the Connecticut Middle School Debate League Tournament on Saturday, April 21 at Eastern Middle School in Greenwich, CT.

Wooster students have completed another season of Trout in the Classroom. Our 7th grade students have been raising Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) in science class since November in collaboration with the Housatonic Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. These trout have recently been released into Miry Brook here on campus!

Senior leadership positions were announced this morning during a special assembly. The gathering has been a Wooster tradition since its founding years. Summoned by the Chapel bells, students in grades 6 through 12 filled the Forever Young Gymnasium with excitement and anticipation as the junior class gathered in front of the crowd for the announcement of their senior year job assignments.

As an introduction to their 20th Century Unit of study, the 5th graders experienced life as an immigrant traveling through Ellis Island. Each student was given a profile to follow and was required to go through a series of rooms: Baggage, Information, Medical, Interview, and Passport.

The preseason practices are over; the snow is melting as the weather is getting warmer, campus is starting to bloom and the spring sports season is about to begin! Upper and Middle School students will begin competing in baseball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, tennis, and ultimate frisbee!

Students, parents, and teachers joined together for a Wooster Lower School and a Wooster Middle School Scholastic Book Fair. The Scholastic Book Fair was a success, thanks to the many Wooster families that shopped and shared their enthusiasm for books with their children. Over 500 books were purchased and all the proceeds will be used to purchase additional books for classroom libraries and the school library.

Wooster School's athletic celebrations are a unique experience. The athletics department continues to seek ways to balance the "team" experience with that of the "individual." Finding room for student-athletes, coaches, and parents to reflect and share their favorite memories is a community and team building exercise and one that we feel is important to the success of our program.
