Join Us for an In-Person, Socially Distanced, Open House on Saturday, October 24

We were reminded this past spring, when our schools went online, that school is about coming together. The act of coming together -- of forming groups, of communicating, or cooperating -- is what has made the human race so successful on this planet. As many of us are wondering if we have taken our success too much for granted, I am reminded that many of our schools have lost sight of the importance of bringing young people together to learn how to coexist, to make meaning of the world and themselves through interaction with others.

As we've often turned schools into hotbeds of competition and academic achievement, and just one more stop along the road to someone's notion of success, perhaps we have missed the point entirely.

Perhaps if we thought about schools less as a means to an end -- the training ground for life's future competitions -- and more as an end in and of itself -- the place where we learn to be with others, and perhaps begin to find our unique pathway in life -- we'd start to see people who've been through such schools spending less time fighting and more time cooperating and celebrating each other's uniqueness.

~Matt Byrnes, Head of School

Because of how we've taken on our challenges, we've already become stronger as a school, and if we work hard as a community to keep each other safer, we can stay together on campus for as long as possible.
