On Friday, September 10, 2021, the official start to Wooster School's 96th year began. This special event included remarks from Head of School, Matt Byrnes, a collective recitation of our School Prayer and Honor Code, and the recognition of our Crayons to Commencement Seniors.

Wooster School participated for the 18th Annual HALO Awards for Connecticut High School theatre. Wooster School was recognized with 20 nominations and won 4 awards in the virtual ceremony held in early July.

Wooster School is excited to announce that it has received a significant leadership gift from Richard and Lori Fernandes to construct a multipurpose artificial turf athletic field on its campus. The field is to be called "The Alice and Fernando Fernandes Field" in honor of Rick's parents, whose support and commitment to the strongest possible education for Rick made all the difference in his life. Construction on the field is to begin in June with a tentative completion date of September 2021.

Wooster School participated for the in the 18th Annual HALO Awards, which is like the Tony Awards for Connecticut High School theatre. Wooster School was recognized with 20 nominations. The awards will be presented on July 8, 9 and 10 at 7:00 pm in an online presentation.

Wooster School held its Commencement Exercises on Friday, June 11 to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2021. These seniors join more than 3,000 alumni who have graduated since Wooster's founding in 1926.

Heading into Friday afternoon's game against Kingswood-Oxford School, Wooster School's Frances Ryan '21 was only eighteen points away from scoring her 1,000th point. Ryan, a senior forward from Pound Ridge, NY, joined the highly exclusive 1,000 point club at Wooster School, on 3-point shot in the first half.

Wooster students Nina Bigelow, Harrison Gordon, Lindsey Jarrett, Charlotte Kaczmarek, Avery Wadehra, and Anastasia Wei have work at The Katonah Museum of Art this month as part of the 38th Annual Young Artists exhibition.

Wooster School senior Kat Mancinone, of Roxbury, CT, has signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Southern Connecticut State University and compete on the women's soccer team.

Out of over 200 entries in the state, only 60 were included in the exhibit, quite an honorable achievement for Simone! Join the livestream event on Sunday, December 6 at 4:00 pm, where the top 60 selected photos will be recognized, and the top 4 honorees will be revealed during the live event.

Head of School, Matthew Byrnes, recently announced that Harrison Gordon, Reggie Stuhr, and Anastasia Wei have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented to these scholastically talented seniors.

Wooster School participated for the first time in the HALO Awards, which is like the Tony Awards for Connecticut High School theatre. Wooster School was recognized with 17 nominations. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the awards will be held virtually on Facebook Live on Wednesday, June 24 at 7:00 pm.

Senior leadership positions were announced during a special assembly. The gathering has been a Wooster tradition since its founding years. This year, the Wooster community gathered by Zoom, with excitement and anticipation for the announcement of the senior year job assignments being given to the members of the junior class.

Wooster School's athletic celebrations are a unique experience. The athletics department continues to seek ways to balance the "team" experience with that of the "individual." Finding room for student-athletes, coaches, and parents to reflect and share their favorite memories is a community and team building exercise and one that we feel is important to the success of our program.

The girls team is the #4 seed and will host #5 seed Winchendon School on Wednesday, March 4 at 4:30 pm in the Forever Young Gymnasium.
