Program Requirements
Wooster believes that fitness of the mind and body are mutually beneficial. In keeping with the Wooster Mission Statement’s commitment to physical education, students are required to engage in afternoon physical activities.
Requirements:
Students in grades 6 - 8:
are required to participate in our physical education and/or our athletic program during all three seasons.
Students in grades 9 & 10:
are required to participate in our afternoon activities program during all three seasons and must select at least one team sport.
Students in grades 11 & 12:
are required to participate in our afternoon activities program during two seasons and must select at least one team sport. Students are permitted to take one season “off.” Please note that students taking a season off are expected to leave campus after Jobs period. (Seniors may petition the Director of Student Life and the Head of Upper School to opt out of the team sport requirement.)
Important Notes:
- Late additions to athletic team rosters may not be possible if the maximum number of participants has been reached.
- Participation on an Upper School athletic team requires a 6-day per week commitment (Monday through Saturday). Practices end daily at 5:30 pm and games are scheduled primarily on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
- Wooster's 90% rule applies to athletics as well. A player must participate in 90% of the practices and games in order to receive credit for the season.
